Adopt A Pet!

Say Hola to the lovely Carmen! She’s been patiently waiting to tell her story. It’s a rather sad tale, but we are hoping that it will have a happily ever after very soon! Carmen was picked up by animal control, but not before she was allowed to roam around and face all the dangers that come with it. After she was rescued and came to Houndhaven, x-rays showed that she had been shot with a BB gun in the past and still has some pellets in her. No one cared enough to have her spayed, which led to an infection in her uterus, which was taken care of when we had her spayed. And lastly, no one bothered to have her on heartworm prevention, so she was heartworm positive.
Even after enduring all of these things, Carmen is the sweetest girl, and all she asks for in return is a kind touch and lots of belly rubs. We will be in the middle of walking her when she will stop, drop, roll around for a few minutes, and wait for her belly rubs. Carmen waited patiently to finish her heartworm treatment, and is finally enjoying play time in the yards with her new friends Toffee and KC. It is wonderful to see her running around, being carefree and just enjoying herself!
Carmen is 4-5 year old, black lab mix. She is 42 pounds and a perfect size to hop on your bed or lap if you’d like! Carmen knows “sit” and “lay down”, and takes treats like a lady. She does well with baths and is one of our more quiet, reserved dogs.
If you’ve been looking for a new addition for your family, we have just the girl for you! Carmen has had a rough start, but things are looking up for her, and we want to find a perfect home for her. She certainly deserves it. If you’ve been looking for a loving and snuggly girl, please visit www.houndhaven.org to review our adoption policies and procedures, and complete an application.

Peyton is a gorgeous, sweet, and smart girl! This 1 year old, German Shepherd Blend, is looking for a forever home with a family who has had experience with other German Shepherds. Peyton does well with other dogs, is good with confident and respectful kids, and knows the basic commands. Peyton is also housetrained, but she will have an accident if she is yelled at. Peyton would do best in a family who will not leave her alone for too long, and who will use gentle reminders to help her learn the ropes of a new home. Peyton is a wonderful girl, and we know she will blossom in the right home!

Greyhound Adoptions! Come join us on Saturday, May 5th, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Irish Trails Farm & Pet Supply in Clermont at 102 S. Hwy 27, Clermont, FL 34711 (352) 243-0924 to meet retired racing greyhounds ready for adoption. This beautiful and ancient breed makes an ideal house pet due to their gentle nature. They shed very little and, despite their speed, can be quite calm. In fact, in retirement, they are known as “the 40 mile an hour couch potato”. These are mature, adult dogs and they transition very easily into homes. Most get along great with other dogs and children and many are cat friendly, as well. Get to know these wonderful animals and speak with local greyhound owners. God’s Greyts Greyhound Group 407-578-7496. Find out more at www.godsgreyts.com
