The Beta Theta Chapter, of Epsilon Sigma Alpha service sorority, holds an annual “Mardi Gras” fundraiser, donating the proceeds to many charities and organizations serving the local community. Diann Lovette, Beta Theta Treasurer, is shown making a check presentation to Elaine Barton of Horses With A Mission, Inc. (HWAM). Barton is one of the founders and a Board Member of HWAM, a non-profit “therapeutic horseback riding program targeted toward individuals with disabilities.”
The HWAM’s Certified Equine-assisted Health Care Instructors serve people with cognitive, emotional, physical and behavioral disabilities. Children make up 75% of their client base, and they serve Lake, Orange, Seminole and Polk counties. For more information about the programs offered by HWAM, please see their website: http://horseswithamissioninc.org.
Beta Theta’s March 7, 2015 Mardi Gras event raised over $15,000 for local high school scholarships and multiple community agencies. The next Mardi Gras will be held on February 6, 2016 at the Clermont Arts & Recreation Center. Tickets are on sale now for $45, as well as various levels of sponsorship, which can be purchased from the sisters of Beta Theta. We are grateful for the loyal support of our community.
