Native Plants in Florida
Nov 17 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Native plants thrived in Florida for thousands of years without irrigation, fertilizer or pesticides. They even help our birds and butterflies. But how do they actually work in our yards? Native Plants: A Reality Check is an annual round-table discussion by experienced local native gardeners sharing what has and has not been working in their own yards.
Join the Passionflower Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society at 10 AM, November 17th, upstairs, Cooper Memorial Library for this year’s event. The library is just off Hancock Road, about ½ mi. north of Hwy 50. Free and open to the public, older children welcome. We expect to have some native plants on display too! Questions? Email or call Jim 407-952-1026 or Jon 407-448-6195.

The Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library will host Opera @ the Library on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1:45 p.m. in room 108 B, presenting Giacomo Puccini’s La boheme.
La bohème (The Bohemians) is an opera in four acts, composed by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Scènes de la vie de bohème by Henri Murger. The world premiere of La bohème was in Turin on 1 February 1896 at the Teatro Regio, conducted by the 28-year-old Arturo Toscanini.
Its U.S. premiere took place the following year, in 1897, in Los Angeles. Since then, La bohème has become part of the standard Italian opera repertory, and is one of the most frequently performed operas worldwide.
This is a free program with English subtitles and we hope to enhance your knowledge and appreciation of this beautiful art form.
