VFW Fundraising Yard Sale
Dec 1 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Join us for our fundraising yard sale November 30th, December 1st and 2nd, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. There will be a lot of cool stuff under our tents at the VFW, 855 W. DeSoto Street in downtown Clermont (between 8th Street and West Avenue). All proceeds go to helping Veterans.

Light Up Clermont
Dec 1 @ 10:00 am – 8:00 pm

This annual holiday tradition includes a community tree-lighting ceremony at City Hall Park, an old-fashioned Christmas parade through downtown Clermont and an inspirational Lessons & Carols ceremony at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center.
Schedule of events:
Friday, November 30 (all happening in downtown Clermont)
– 5:30 p.m. Music on the Main Stage at City Hall Park, DJ Music on Montrose Street between 8th Street and West Avenue
– 6:30 p.m. Light Up Ceremony with the mayor at the Main Stage at City Hall Park
– 7 p.m. Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Clermont City Center
– 5:30-9 p.m. Food court and kid zone open
Saturday, December 1
– 10 a.m. Clermont Hometown Parade in downtown Clermont
– Noon Community acts on the Main Stage at City Hall Park
– 5 & 8 p.m. A Service of Lessons and Carols at the Clermont Performing Arts Center. A Service of Lessons and Carols features operatic grande tenor Ben Gulley and choirs from Montverde Academy, First United Methodist Church of Clermont, First Unitarian Church of Orlando and the Florida Vocal Arts Choir in the performance of the “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.”
The performance includes a 30-piece orchestra conducted by Montverde Academy strings instructor and Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra conductor Hanrich Claas.

Chanuka Celebration
Dec 2 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Congregation Sinai helps our community celebrate all Jewish holidays with special events and services. Congregation Sinai has been serving the Jewish Community of Central Florida since 2003. Numerous services and annual events will be open and free to the entire community.
Special Chanukah Services will be held on Sunday night, December 2nd, 5 to 8 PM. There will be a Chanukah Candle Lighting service with a Latke Party that evening. Congregation Sinai President Peter Sobel announces, “This event will be free and open to the local Jewish community of the Greater Clermont, Groveland and Central Florida areas. We will light all candles this night and serve Trader Joes’ prepared latkes with applesauce and sour cream, salad and jelly doughnuts donated by Dunkin’ Donuts, punch, water, ice tea, and wine. Our regular synagogue celebration will be on the following Friday when congregants can bring their own Chanukiahs to light.”

Barn Yard Sale

The 2nd annual yard sale to benefit Howey Horse Haven Rescue will be held Saturday, December 8th, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The ranch is located at 22109 N. Buckhill Road, Howey-in-the-Hills.
Here is your chance to clear out some of the unnecessary items in your home.
You can sell your items by reserving your own 12 x 12 spot. Bring out yout stuff, set up and let the sales begin.
Introduce your business, product or goods for sale.
Learn more about Howey Horse Ranch and rescue horses and how you can participate in their rehabilitation.

Scrub Jay Trail Activities

BioBlitz Series – Dr. Marc Minno will continue his monthly BioBlitz series with 2-hour treks through the sandhill scrub and wetlands where butterflies live in abundance along with a plethora of tiny insects, caterpillars, birds, native plants, shrubs and trees.
BioBlitz Dates – October 13, November 3, December 8, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., $10 per member, $15 per non-member.

The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail Orientation takes place the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. This is a great first step and introduction to our organization or a good opportunity to reacquaint yourself.

Holiday Boat Parade
Dec 16 @ 6:15 pm – 7:15 pm

The 18th Annual Johns Lake Holiday Boat Parade will be on Sunday, December 16th at 6:15pm. See up to 40 boats decorated in lights! Viewing is from the Johns Lake Public Boat Ramp, 13620 Lake Blvd., Winter Garden, FL from approx. 6:45-7:15pm. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.
All boats participating should meet in Johns Lake before 6:15pm on the furthermost NW shoreline of the lake (neighborhoods of Magnolia Bay & Johns Lake Landing border the meeting area). THIS IS A NEW MEETING LOCATION. Parade will travel easterly towards its termination at Hickory Hammock in the SE corner of the lake. Parade will last about two hours. Call 407-701-8033 for details.
