Dr. Tim Henne and Dr. Michele started the Center for Ankle and Foot Care family in 2002 and it has been a part of the Clermont landscape ever since. They have expanded their practice family with fantastic staff over the last 16 years and their own family with three amazing children.
Dr. McGowan has always had a passion for diabetic wound healing and recently has joined the wound care centers at South Lake hospital and Health Central hospital. “I most certainly think prevention is the key with my diabetic patients. I love helping patients stay out of trouble.” But since Dr. McGowan has joined the panel of physicians at the wound care centers she said, “I have always felt like helping people heal their wounds is my calling ever since I was the Diabetic Limb Salvage Fellow in Pittsburgh at West Penn Hospital back in 2000.”
It is estimated that 25% of all diabetic patients will develop a diabetic foot ulcer at some point in their life. Of those patients, at least 73,000 will receive an amputation. “This is why I joined the Wound Care Centers. I feel I can decrease the amputation rate in our local community,” Dr. McGowan explains.
