Clermont-Minneola Lions Club had a very good day on their shooting range Saturday, May 18 and added an additional 20 feet of shade canopy to the pistol range. The Club operates the range located across from Tractor Supply or SR 50 in Groveland from eight to noon on the second, third and fourth Saturdays.
First Saturdays are for special events and maintenance. First Saturday next month, June 1st, the Club will have a big yard sale running from 8 am to 1 pm. The public is invited to bring anything they might want to either donate or offer for sale. All donated proceeds will go to Lions various charities. The Club will accept used eye glasses for recycling as well as toys being collected for their TOYS FOR TRUNKS program, to be given to local police departments for kids at highly stressed domestic calls.
The Club will be welcoming District Governor Helene Thompson, to their Club meeting, June 13, 6:30 pm as she finishes out her term of office and installs new members.
Look for the Club’s venue at the Sunday Farmer’s Market on the first Sunday of each month. Free diabetes blood screening is offered along with straw brooms made by the blind and ideal for picking up pathogens, grease and oil that synthetics fail to do.
The Club meets once per month at St. Matthais Episcopal Church, downtown Montrose Street.
