Posted on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:29 am

On Sunday, November 12th at 3pm, the America’s Mighty Warriors Military Race will take place at the World War II Museum in Clermont’s Historic Village.
This race has been organized in order to show our local Veterans and service members that our community is grateful for their sacrifices. The race will also be raising money for the America’s Mighty Warriors charity which assists those in all branches of the military who are dealing with PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.
This event has an option for all ability levels. Participants can choose either 1) A non-timed 2 mile walk or run, 2) A timed 2 mile walk/run that includes 5 exercise stations (one for each branch of the military), or 3) A timed 4 mile walk/run that includes 10 exercise stations.
Participants can also earn points for a team and compete for trophies. A few of the teams that have already made plans to attend include Mount Dora H.S. Air Force JROTC, Leesburg H.S. Air Force JROTC, Clermont Police Dept, Team S4 Triathlon Club and Groveland Elementary. Individual awards will also be given out to each age group.
Clermont’s VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) will be in attendance to pass out hand-held flags and offer support on the course. Ruby Tuesday of Clermont will be donating post-race refreshments.
