Lieut. Mark Stauffer was the November guest speaker at the CWC. He is from the Lake County Sheriff’s office in charge of Project Kid Connect. This is an outreach charity program for elementary and middle school children to develop a relationship with police deputies in the South Lake area.
A three hour festival is set up in July. Backpacks are filled and distributed with school supplies so the children will be prepared for the first day of school. Volunteers provide face painting, rock climbing, sky zone bounce house tickets, free haircuts, free eye tests, tickets for tutoring help, gift certificates and pictures with deputies. Kids are shown police motorcycles, bikes and police cars. Water, hot dogs and chicken from Chick-fil-A is donated.
This program is tax free and self-funded. To volunteer call the Sheriff’s Office on State Road 50. The Clermont Woman’s Club supports this program as a silver sponsor.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at the Clubhouse at 655 Broome St. at 12:30. For information see www.ClermontWomansClub.org.
