Absinthe

Absinthe (located in the Clermont Hillside Terrace complex, 352-243-7845) opened for business last fall, providing a unique venue to the Clermont area. Fashioned after a Speakeasy or Chicago Jazz Club, Absinthe offers the best intimate atmosphere in town. In an urban setting of exposed brick and mahogany, you can relax - or groove - to jazz, blues, classic rock, and other laid-back sounds. Absinthe is open seven days a week with live entertainment provided by local artists on weekends. Thursdays are audition night where you can help us evaluate some of the up and coming local talent.

Our full bar offers an extensive selection of premium liquors, wines and beers. We also offer our namesake - absinthe. This unusual and interesting liquor is distilled from wormwood and has a strong anise flavor. Originally developed in the 18th century for medicinal purposes, it found its way into the bars of Europe and eventually around the world.

Unfortunately, in the early 1900's absinthe became unfairly associated with mind altering and hallucinogenic effects - often symbolized by a Green Fairy - and was banned throughout most of the world. Recently, however, most of these bans have been lifted, allowing you to once again experience this most unusual drink. Even the preparation of the drink is an event, adding to the allure.

Adjoining Absinthe is the Q Room, Clermont's ultimate billiard lounge. This sister venue also provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Q Room's casual setting is great for hanging out, playing games or gathering with friends. The bar is noted for its large selection of quality beers and the penthouse views provided by our top floor location.
