Performance of "Christmas Carol"
Thursday, December 1, 2011
On December 9, 2011, Lake County 's newest theatre troupe Outside The Box will present Jacob Marley's CHRISTMAS CAROL, at the Franklin Pearce Jr. Auditorium in Montverde. Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol has been rewritten from Jacob Marley's point of view of view - an entertaining new twist on this familiar holiday tale. The show will continue through Monday, December 19.
Marley was dead to begin with, but what happens after his death? And what leads him to visit Scrooge? Adapted by Tom Mula from his 1995 novel Jacob Marley's CHRISTMAS CAROL reverses the tables; it is initially Marley who gets a crack at redemption. Desperate to escape his own hellish eternity of chains and shackles, he must first redeem and reform Scrooge and get him to open his heart. What transpires is a behind the scenes look at how Marley helps change Scrooge, thus changing himself. Aided (and sometimes abetted) by the Bogel, a malicious little hell-sprite with an agenda of his own, Marley leads Scrooge, himself, and the audience along the path to the true meaning of Christmas. Their hilarious and wondrous journey takes them from the Jaws of Death to the Mouth of Hell--and beyond! This irreverent, funny, and ultimately, deeply moving story retells Dickens' classic with warmth and infectious zest. It's all rather touching, highly imaginative, often hilarious, and a very satisfying evening of theatre.
Jacob Marley's CHRISTMAS CAROL is performed as story-telling theatre by a cast of four: "Danger Bob" Mullins and David Brown will be reprising their roles as Marley and Scrooge from last season's Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge at the Moonlight Warehouse Theatre; Chasteen Mullins and James Canavan will be joining them onstage at the Franklin Pearce Jr. Auditorium in Montverde. As its name implies, OUTSIDE THE BOX will produce plays and musicals in a non-traditional manner. In 2012, Outside the Box plans to produce Lionel Bart's OLIVER! and A CIVIL WAR CHRISTMAS: An American Musical Celebration by Paula Vogel & Daryl Waters.
Performances begin Friday, December 9, through Monday, December 19, 2011, with various showtimes. The Franklin Pearce Jr. Auditorium is located at 17404 Sixth St , Montverde, FL 34756. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for kids and students. For more information and/or reservations, call (407)-883-4392 or visit "Outside The Box" on Facebook.
