Lake County Food Providers Make a Difference in their Communities
Friday, January 20, 2012
During the month of December 2011, nearly 60 people met for the bi-monthly Lake County Food Providers' meeting. This group supplied information that reported December giving of over 17,350 baskets or pounds of food and over 10,000 toys or gifts given to children and families through all of Lake County. Many in this group supplied hot meals, helped with rent and utilities and others gave spiritual and emotional encouragement to hundreds of people in Lake County.
The Lake County Food Providers' group consists of people from food pantries, food banks, ministries, nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and community clubs and organizations from Lake County. The members are from various locations; such as, Lady Lake, Fruitland Park, Eustis, Umatilla, Tavares, Mt. Dora, Leesburg, Groveland, Minneola, and Clermont. They come together to share and make a difference for their community. They are amazing individuals working to fight hunger.
Please join us at the Community Foundation with support for fighting the cause and ensuring that No One Goes Hungry in Lake County. The work is not done and the group will continue to meet in 2012 on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 8:30 am. The next meeting is January 26, 2012 at the Community Foundation of South Lake, 2150 Oakley Seaver Drive, Clermont, FL 34711. Bruce Greer, Executive Director of the Community Foundation, will facilitate the next meeting.
Together we are making a difference in Lake County.
