The Green Mountain Scenic Byway will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the addition of Plant Street and Historic Downtown Winter Garden to the corridor of the Green Mountain Scenic Byway Thursday, April 19, 5:30 p.m. at the Plant Street Gazebo located at the intersection of Boyd and Plant streets.
Following the ribbon cutting, The Friends of Lake Apopka, The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, The Oakland Nature Preserve and the Green Mountain Scenic Byway Committee will be hosting the Second Annual Lake Apopka Rally at 7:00pm at Tanner Hall, 29 West Garden Avenue, Winter Garden. This year's event entitled, "Lake Apopka, an Economic Growth Center" will include presentations about the historic economic impact of Lake Apopka, the current status of the north shore trail (called the Lake Apopka Loop), events threatening the north shore wildlife preserve, and the future of the lake as an outdoor recreation and eco-tourist destination.
Each of the citizen advocacy organizations hosting the event will have information tables available from 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. Presentations begin at 7:00 p.m. The ribbon cutting will be a short ceremony so that you can enjoy dinner in historic downtown Winter Garden before proceeding to Tanner Hall.
