According to the Winter Park/Maitland Observer, Rollins College freshman and 2011 MVA Alumna Hillary Urquhart, daughter of Upper School English professor Troy Urquhart, has been participating in a Rollins College photography class that applies sense memory exercises associated with photos to assist in the therapy of Alzheimer's and dementia patients. The Rollins College course work, in a collaborative partnership with Winter Park Florida's Brain Fitness Club and under the direction of registered nurse Peggy Bargmann of First United Methodist Church in Winter Park, allows students to offer their support two days a week to those suffering from diminished capacity and memory loss related illnesses. The Brain Fitness Club employs brain-building and physical exercises linked to speech therapy and, with the help of the Rollins College students, uses photography to stimulate the memory and alertness of the dementia-affected elders.
