Committed to Feeding Kids in our Community

Posted on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 1:32 am

For years Real Life has committed to ensuring kids in our communities don’t go hungry. Many kids in our area are on the state’s free-and-reduced lunch program. When school isn’t in session, it can be a real struggle for these families to keep their children well-fed. Real Life stands in this gap with Kids’ Packs: each Pack provides non-perishable, kid-friendly groceries.
Last year Real Life distributed 168,000 meals in our community and this year the church has been able to distribute over 307,000 meals. Every single one of those meals positively impacted a family. Barbara, from Mascotte, shared, “we didn’t know how we were going to afford food while our children were out of school and Real Life helped take the worry away from our summer.”
Stacie Alberts, a member of the team, said: “being a part of Kids’ Packs has opened my heart, meeting families in our community who desperately need the help, gives me and my family an opportunity to show love in a very practical way.”
Feeding kids through the summer isn’t the only way that Real Life helps. The food pantry is open throughout the week and last year provided over 660,000 meals and in 2018 will break the 1 million meals per year threshold.
Real Life knows that God is Crazy about YOU and Kids’ Packs are one of the many ways that Real Life shows that to the community!
