The Village Goldsmith

Fifteen years - how great is that? On June 14, 1994, fifteen  wonderful, yet arduous years ago, Jim Johnson, The Village Goldsmith,  took a leap of faith by relocating his jewelry business from the  Tampa Bay area to the sleepy little town of Clermont. It was Jim's dream to open a one-of-a-kind goldsmith shop whose key purpose was to be of service to the community. All people and each of their  cherished items would be treated with respect, courtesy, honesty,  precise workmanship, and fair pricing. Regardless of the intrinsic  value of these "treasures" or the budget limitations of their  owners, Jim has kept faith with the folks of South Lake County.

In spite of the current economy causing a temporary slump in the  retail side of all businesses, The Village Goldsmith continues to  stay busy on those singular custom pieces that they so enjoy helping  you design for yourself or your loved one. In addition to remounts  and modified pieces which challenge their creative sides, all manner  of repairs continue to be their mainstay. While jewelry repairs and  watch battery replacements are their stocks-in-trade, these craftsmen  offer pearl and bead restringing as well. Clock and watch repairs Jim  accomplishes through the hands of two master horologists  (watchmakers). And, by the way, independent appraisals are always  available by appointment.

Needless to say, Clermont is no longer a sleepy little town, nor has  The Village Goldsmith remained a one man effort. The first voice you  hear when approaching the counter or on the phone will probably be  that of Torri, Jim and Betty's eldest daughter. Her lifelong  experience and innate talent more than qualify her to assist you in  making design choices. The Village Goldsmith does boast of having  three master goldsmiths on site where Jim, Lloyd and Jose steadfastly  adhere to their mission goals. This unique jewelry, repair and  service shop has been rewarded with the unwavering support of the  folks who have become their family, friends, neighbors and partners  in Jim's dream. The Village Goldsmith is located at 630 W. Hwy 50,  Clermont, 352-394-4429.

"Thank you, again, Clermont, for keeping your business at home and  helping us to make our business your jeweler of choice," says Jim  and Betty.
