“Everybody Has Their Perfect Match,” the title of a video showcasing high school students with animals in need of new homes was the winner of a competition of student-produced public service announcements (PSA) that highlight Lake County charities.
Multi-award winning video production and marketing company Red Apples Media partnered with the East Ridge High School Television Production program and its teacher Denise Honey, to develop the PSA competition. Entries had to be :30 or :60 seconds and had to promote either LifeStream Behavioral Center, Take Stock in Children or Lake County animal services. The entries were judged anonymously by community judges.
A video produced for the South Lake Animal League by 12th grader Lian Cabrera and 11th-grader Thomas Gaines won the top honors. The winning PSA was announced during the 2017 Movie Knight, an annual showcase of video production work by East Ridge High students. The winning video can be viewed at http://www.schooltube.com/video/7cbaab07f4c74743ab0b/ERHS%20Clermont%20South%20Lake%20Animal%20League%20PSA.
In addition to a crystal trophy awarded to the producer, Red Apples Media has made a $500 donation to the East Ridge H.S. Television Production department in Cabrera’s and Gaines’ names.
Red Apples Media president, Marc Robertz Schwartz, visited with student producers about midway through the production to provide feedback and coaching to enhance the videos, preparing them for the competition as well as airing them on Lake Sumter TV.
The winning PSA will be among several submissions that will air on Lake Sumter Television (LSTV), which is operated by Red Apples Media, later this spring and summer. Red Apples Media will also produce a television special including the best-of-the-best of all the Movie Knight entries to air later this Spring, including news segments, profiles, shorts, demo reels and more.
