school -classroomStarting in the 2017-18 school year, parents in Lake County and across the state will have more choices for their children’s education.
The revision of Florida Statute 1002.31 directs each school district to develop a controlled open enrollment plan that allows parents from any school district in the state to enroll their child in any public school that has not reached capacity.
In Lake County, open enrollment begins on Feb. 1.
Between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, parents and legal guardians anywhere in the state can apply to have their children attend any public school or magnet program in Lake County. Those who apply to schools with capacity will be entered into a lottery for available spaces. Those who apply to schools that do not have capacity will be entered into a lottery to be placed on a waiting list.
