Posted on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1:33 am

garbage truckResidents living in unincorporated Lake County who normally have residential curbside collection services for household garbage, recycling or yard waste on Fridays, will see their collection services shift by one day during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Those with regular collection on Friday, Dec. 25 will receive pickup instead on Saturday, Dec. 26. Collection services on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, will be as normal. Those with regular collection on Friday, Jan. 1 will receive pickup instead on Saturday, Jan. 2. Collection services on New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, will be as normal.
During the first week after each holiday, beginning Monday, Dec. 28 and running through Friday, Jan. 8, the contractor will also collect all of the garbage and rubbish that is set out by a customer in plastic bags and garbage cans. This service is only offered on weeks following particular holidays.
Haulers handle Christmas trees under the same criteria as yard waste, and will collect them on days that yard waste is normally picked up. Or, trees can be dropped off at the convenience centers and Lake County’s Central Solid Waste Facility, located at 13130 County Landfill Road in Tavares. Trees should be free of ornaments and decorations. The Central Facility will be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but open on Saturday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 2. Convenience center hours are as normal during the holiday weeks.
For more information about the county’s residential curbside collection services, contact the Lake County Solid Waste Division at 352-343-9400, email garbagecollection@lakecountyfl.gov, or visit www.lakecountyfl.gov/garbagecollection. Customer service during the holiday weeks is open on Dec. 24, and Dec. 31, but closed on Dec. 25, Dec. 26, Jan. 1 and Jan. 2.
