veterans bookThe Lake County Board of County Commissioners and Lake County Veterans Services Office proudly announce the publication of the “Lake County Veterans Handbook,” a survivor assistance guide to local and federal resources for veterans and their families.
The free guide is available online at www.lakecountyfl.gov/VeteransGuide, and includes resources and information regarding burial honors, Social Security benefits, a survivor checklist, and more.
“There are many services that are available to survivors of veterans that are not known to the general public and veterans’ families,” said Chairman Jimmy Conner. “Our veterans and their families have earned and deserve these survival benefits.”
The county, working hand-in-hand with representatives from the non-profit Veterans Memorial at Fountain Park, Inc., and the Disabled American Veterans Space Coast Chapter in Merritt Island, comprised this resource for veterans and their survivors.
Chairman Conner also thanked Don Van Beck, executive director of the Veteran’s Memorial at Fountain Park, Inc. for his assistance in this project.
“The county commission appreciates the service of the more than 27,000 veterans who reside in Lake County and we are honored to provide this valuable resource guide,” Chairman Conner added.
