LifeStream To Provide Children/Youth Mobile Crisis Teams

Posted on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 1:49 am

Lutheran Services of Florida Health Systems awarded LifeStream Behavioral Center the contract to provide Children/Youth Mobile Crisis Response Teams (MCR) to Citrus, Lake, and Sumter Counties. MCR Teams are a 24 -hour, 7 day per week service that provides assistance for mental health and substance abuse crises for children, adolescents and young adults up to age 25.
The implementation of the MCR Teams will enhance and expand our current system of care. The MCR Teams will help to lessen trauma, divert from emergency departments or juvenile/criminal justice, and prevent unnecessary psychiatric hospitalizations by creating additional resources; improving crisis intervention and prevention practices; enhancing access to services for individuals and families; and strengthening community engagement.
LifeStream’s MCR Teams will offer an intensive and rigorous regimen of services. The teams will respond over the phone within 15 minutes after an initial request. The Mobile Response Team will respond to the crisis, in person, within one hour, and schedule a psychiatric face-to-face or telehealth appointment with the individual within 48 hours, if the individual has no existing behavioral health services provider.
There will be Two Teams: Team 1: Lake County-South Sumter County and Team 2: Citrus County-North Sumter County, each consisting of a licensed clinician, case manager, support specialist, a psychiatrist and an advanced registered nurse practitioner. This team will provide on-demand crisis intervention services in any setting in which a behavioral health crisis is occurring, including homes, schools and emergency rooms. While all MCR teams have the same goals and objectives, each community has their own specifications to best meet the needs of the consumers in their community.
The services will be available 24/7. For more information contact: 352-446.2680.
