Local Cadet Earns Award

South Lake High School NJROTC held their annual award ceremony Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at South Lake High School under the guidance of CDR Don Guy, USNR (Ret), Senior Naval Science instructor. Many patriotic organizations around the area presented awards to the cadets. Tomoka Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, represented by Susan DeHart, Regent and Carolyn Darling, Veteran’s Chairman, was honored to present an award to Cadet Lieutenant Bryanna Rodriguez.
Cadet Rodriguez’s outstanding scholastic and extracurricular record of achievement has placed her as one of the top performing cadets in Florida and earning her the 2017 Area 7 Joseph C. Gilliam Academic Award. Ranked number 1 of 372 South Lake seniors and selected as school valedictorian, Cadet Rodriguez’s 5.0 GPA, National Honor Society membership and NJROTC leadership have prepared her exceptionally well as she prepares for college and a life of service to her country.
