Posted on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 1:10 am

In an effort to fight childhood hunger and offer relief to families struggling with poverty and homelessness, the Lake County Library System and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida have teamed up to serve free lunches for kids under 18 this summer. The program runs through August 10.
Daily offerings include fruits, vegetables, milk, chips and a meat option. Menus are free of pork and peanut products. The W.T. Bland Public Library first served meals through Second Harvest in 2017. The event was marked with huge success, spurring other libraries to join.
