My first holiday bike ride is a free bicycle ride open to all but especially aimed for children just learning to ride or children who received a bike as a holiday gift.
Join us at Waterfront Park, starting at the pavilion at 330 Third Street Tuesday, December 29. For children who want to decorate their bicycle, we have fun, safe supplies and supervision from 5 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. The ride begins at 5:30 p.m. on the South Lake Trail. There will be a super short bike ride for new riders and a slightly longer one for older children who already know how to ride a bike.
Parents and siblings are welcome to join us. At the end of the ride, we’ll have refreshments, helmet fittings and a brief safety talk by Police Chief Charles Broadway and Officer Champ, our remote-controlled police car driven by a talking dog puppet. We want kids to know bike riding is fun, a great way to stay fit, a wonderful way to make friends but also carries a responsibility to be safe. A bicycle is usually our first vehicle.
