Give A Pet A Home This Year!

Posted on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1:56 am

Q is an older gent (about 9 years old) that has been with us for way too long. He is very sweet, loves car rides, loves to play ball, nice long walks and even loves a baby pool. He will sit and shake paw for a treat. Q would love to give you some pep in your day along with many cuddles. We don’t stop playing because we turn old, we turn old because we stop playing. You will get the undying love of a devoted dog who will love you more than any creature on earth. Please consider giving this beautiful boy a loving secure home. If you are interested in Q, please call 407-947-2329 to set up a meet and greet!
The greatest love of all is the love of a “Rescue Dog”. Don’t pity them, do something, help to donate, rescue, volunteer, foster or adopt, and be proud to have their greatness by your side!
Our adoption events are every other Sunday at PetSmart in Winter Garden Village and alternate Sundays at the Clermont Farmers Market. Visit us on Facebook to keep up with current events, or visit our website to see all of the faces at RTR who need a home, you will also find all of our adoption applications and protocols on this site. Call us at 352-240-1583 or email us at Volunteer today and change a life!

Houndhaven, a no-kill animal rescue located in Minneola, is looking for a few good volunteers. We have been rescuing dogs and puppies from euthanasia at kill shelters since 2000. No expense is spared to save the lives of these precious animals, especially since so many of them have come from situations of neglect or have never known the feeling of a tender touch.
Houndhaven rescues mostly Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, lab mixes, and has been known to occasionally rescue the odd one or two in the bunch, such as little terriers that became honorary “hounds”. We typically have 15-20 rescue dogs at a time and are run exclusively by volunteers. Our volunteers know there is no better “paycheck” than a tail’s wag from a dog who now knows he is safe and is going to have a “happily ever after”.
Volunteers are needed at our shelter 365 days a year, and at this time we are really in need of anyone interested in helping to make a difference in the lives of our wonderful dogs. Volunteers need only be at least 18 years of age and capable of handling large dogs. Our volunteers help walk the dogs, clean kennels, and of course, provide much needed love and attention to our furry friends.
Volunteer opportunities also exist at adoption events most weekends. We take our dogs to Petsmart and Petco so that they can meet prospective adopters. Volunteers are responsible for walking dogs, making sure they show well, and answer questions about Houndhaven and our adoption process.
Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the community, make new friends who share a passion for animals, and take a mini-break from your everyday activities. If you have a bit of time to share, please consider volunteering at Houndhaven. Contact for information on volunteering at the shelter or for information on volunteering at our adoption events. The Hounds can’t wait to meet you!!
