Sigma Phi chapter of ESA met April 15th at Mainstreet Bank in Clermont for the installation of their new board. The new board: president, Janet Jones, vice president, Sylvia Watler, secretary, Lisa Harris, treasurer, Christine Bishop, philanthropic director, Joy Lehnert, educational director, Sally Bowler, and parliamentarian, Pinky Barbour. President, Janet Jones, announced her theme for the upcoming year – Stepping Up Changing Faces.
On April 28th, 2019, Sigma Phi held a Bunco for a Cause fundraiser at Mainstreet Bank to raise funds for some of the various charities they serve: East Ridge High School, South Lake High School and Minneola High School student scholarships, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, St. Augustine School for the Deaf and Blind, and the Russell Home.
Eight members of Sigma Phi just attended the ESA State Convention held in Venice, Florida, May 17th through 20. Sigma Phi received the following awards at the convention:
Four ESA chapter wards, 12 Associate of the Arts awards, including Best of the Show, won by Chris Bishop. Kathy Scherer was representing our chapter as Miss Enthusiasm. Joy Lehnert was representing Sigma Phi as our chapter Woman of the Year and she also won State Woman of the Year.
