Tomoka Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, held their annual Student Award Program Friday, February 1, 2019 at Cooper Memorial Library. Beverly Oyler, Tomoka Regent welcomed Clermont Mayor Gail Ash, Groveland Mayor Evelyn Wilson, Montverde Mayor Joe Wynkoop, administrators, teachers, students, family, members and other special guests.
The American History Essay committee was comprised of Anna Rose Pauley, Mary Battersby and Margaret Marquis. Anna Rose Pauley presented awards to the three fifth graders for their essays: Cayden Lutz, Clermont Elementary School; Leya Nielson, Groveland Elementary School; Deegan Manzo, Clermont Elementary School. Cayden Lutz’s essay won the best written essay. After Cayden read his essay to the audience, Mary Battersby presented him with another award.
