UF/IFAS Extension Program Helps Homeowners Create Florida Friendly Landscaping

TAVARES – UF/IFAS Extension, Lake County is hosting the Homeowner Ed-ucation Landscape Program (H.E.L.P.), a three class pro-gram that’s part of the Flor-ida Friendly Landscaping Series. The nine-hour edu-cational program will be held from 9 a.m. – noon on Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1, at the UF/IFAS Extension, Lake Coun-ty Office, 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.

Participants are required to attend all three classes, which will address frequently asked questions and prob-lems in the home landscape. The series is being offered to give participants classroom and hands-on training on how to calibrate a fertilizer spreader, install a micro-ir-rigation system, and select plant materials.

Participants will receive micro-irrigation supplies and a Plant Selection and Landscape Design Guide. The classes will be presented by UF/IFAS Extension & Res-idential Horticulture Agent, Brooke Moffis.
